Why You'll love it

This is a cyclist’s opportunity to properly follow in the footsteps of the pros (or perhaps more accurately, provide the footsteps for the pros to follow in?!). It doesn’t get bigger than the Tour de France for cycling so this is our Wembley, Lords or Wimbledon. Brutally tough but something quite magical about riding along closed mountain passes, supporters for the tour already parked up in their campervans cheering you on and writing already daubed onto the road ready to greet cycling’s heroes soon after. If you allow your mind to drift whilst toiling up the climbs, you could almost be forgiven for believing that the ‘Go Froomey’ white marking was actually meant for you…

Things you need to know

A one day amateur cycling event along a stage of the Tour de France a few days prior to pros going through. Typically, a mountainous stage is chosen for thousands of amateurs to tackle a gruelling day of climbing and descending in amongst some of the most stunning scenery and incredible road cycling that France has to offer.

Accommodation books up at the start town so make sure you book well in advance. If flying then taking a bike out can be hard work so make sure you know what the airline regulations are around bikes in bike boxes.
